First FRCR anatomy exam books

Essential:

Imaging Atlas of Human Anatomy

There are some great books out there, however only one is essential!  This is it.  A comprehensive atlas for the FRCR anatomy exam.

First FRCR Physics exam books

Essential:

FRCR Physics Notes
Sarah Abdulla, Christopher Clarke

FRCR Physics Notes: Revision notes for the First FRCR Physics exam

Written by radiologists for radiologists, and checked by physicists, these notes are concise but comprehensive covering the entire scope of the RCR Radiology - integrated training initiative (R-ITI) upon which the first FRCR physics exams are based.

Farr's Physics for Medical Imaging
Penelope Allisy-Roberts, Jerry Williams

Farr's Physics for Medical Imaging

A concise, although somewhat outdated text for the FRCR physics exam.  Having said that, Farr's has good coverage of many topics.

Final FRCR 2A books

Recommended reference textbooks:

Grainger & Allison's Diagnostic Radiology Essentials
Lee Grant, Nyree Griffin

Grainger & Allison's Diagnostic Radiology Essentials

Any radiologist will tell you that 'Grainger & Allison's Diagnostic Radiology' is a great text giving an overview of radiology.  We, however recommend the newer 'Essentials' edition which has received excellent feedback and will give you a good base for the 2A exam.

Fundamentals of Diagnostic Radiology
William Brant, Clyde Helms

Fundamentals of Diagnostic Radiology

Another book giving a great overview of most topics and a good reference text for the FRCR 2A exam.  We recommend 'Grainger & Allison' or 'Brant and Helms', but you probably don't need both.

Radiology Review Manual
Wolfgang Dahnert

Radiology Review Manual

The essential radiology reference text.  It has everything you need to know about radiology.  The 2A exams often ask you about the smallest of details straight out of this book.  I used this as a reference while revising for the exams and it is well worth it.  Strongly recommended.

Fundamentals of Skeletal Radiology
Clyde Helms

Fundamentals of Skeletal Radiology

Known as "the pink book".  A superb introduction to musculoskeletal radiology providing a good overview of tricky areas, particularly bone lesions.  Recommend reading cover to cover before doing practise 2A questions.

There are a few good books for the 2B exam, but by far the best in my opinion is this one.  A must have for the FRCR 2B exam.

Please note these FRCR 2B courses are subject to change and candidates are advised to book early (up to a year in advance).  Often places will become available at last minute due to people dropping out, booking more courses than they need or being unable to get the time off, so make sure you add your name to a waiting list if possible.
